Tom Liwa und Heiner Heseding erinnern an den großen Blues- und Rocksänger aus Derby, England – Kevin Coyne, der am 27. Januar 1944 geboren wurde und somit heute 80 Jahre alt geworden wäre.

In einer Revue aus Liedern, Texten, Bildern und Videos wird die Lebensgeschichte des kauzigen Sängers, Malers und Autors aus Mittelengland dargestellt. Auch aus den Büchern, die Kevin Coyne seit den 90er Jahren schrieb, wird gelesen.

1973 unterschrieb der jugendliche und idealistische Coyne als Solokünstler bei Richard Bransons Plattenlabel Virgin-Records und nahm in den nächsten acht Jahren elf LPs für das Label auf. In Insiderkreisen karrierelang als „Geheimtipp“ gehandelt, führten ihn Konzertreisen um die ganze Welt. Sein Album „Knockin‘ On Your Brain“ wurde 1996 in Duisburg-Homberg mit deutschen und internationalen Spitzenmusikern aufgenommen, unter anderem Tom Liwa, Gründungsmitglied der Band „Flowerpornoes“.

Tom Liwa singt eigene und ausgewählte Cover-Songs und teilt seine Erinnerungen an die Zusammenarbeit. Heiner Heseding kennt die Musik Kevin Coyne’s seit den frühen 70er Jahren.

Im doppelt bedeutsamen Jubiläumsjahr jährt sich der Tod des Künstlers am 2. Dezember zum 20. Mal. Zur Erinnerung wird der Nachlassverwalter des Archivs von Kevin Coyne, Stefan Voit, eine Ausstellung mit Gemälden und Zeichnungen des auch als Maler erfolgreichen Künstlers in Duisburg-Ruhrort kuratieren. Die Vernissage zur Ausstellung „… I want mycrown! | Kevin Coyne 20/80“ findet am 30. November um 19 Uhr im Das PLUS am Neumarkt statt.

Tom Liwa and Heiner Heseding remember the great blues and rock singer from Derby, England - Kevin Coyne, who was born on 27 January 1944 and would have been 80 years old today.

The life story of the oddball singer, painter and author from central England is presented in a revue of songs, texts, pictures and videos. There will also be readings from the books that Kevin Coyne has written since the 1990s.

In 1973, the youthful and idealistic Coyne signed as a solo artist with Richard Branson's record label Virgin Records and recorded eleven LPs for the label over the next eight years. Treated as an "insider tip" in blues and rock-circles for a long time, concert tours took him all over the world. His album "Knockin' On Your Brain" was recorded in 1996 in Duisburg-Homberg with top German and international musicians, including Tom Liwa, founding member of the band "Flowerpornoes".

Tom Liwa sings his own and selected cover songs and shares his memories of the collaboration. Heiner Heseding has known Kevin Coyne's music since the early 70s.

In this doubly significant anniversary year, December, 2 marks the 20th anniversary of the artist's death. To commemorate this, the executor of Kevin Coyne's archive, Stefan Voit, will curate an exhibition of paintings and drawings by the artist, who was also a successful painter, in Duisburg-Ruhrort. The vernissage for the exhibition "... I want mycrown! | Kevin Coyne 20/80" will take place on 30 November at 7 pm at Das PLUS am Neumarkt.
